Winna graduated from Elon University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish and has worked in classrooms in some of the top schools around the world for the past 10 year. Upon graduation, Winna completed a fellowship through Elon University and the Kenan Foundation where she supported the Alamance-Burlington School System by creating programming for pre-school aged children focusing on family partnerships and kindergarten readiness.
Following completion of her year of service, Winna accepted a position at the International School of Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand. During her year at ISB, Winna focused heavily on professional development opportunities relating to Reggio-Emilia based practices, equitable math instruction and supporting English language learners.
After her time abroad, Winna taught first and third grade at the Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, Hawai’i. While there, her main focus was creating and implementing curriculum; blending both Common Core State Standards and Native Hawaiian based learning standards across all content areas. While living in Honolulu, Winna completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Power Yoga Hawaii.
Most recently, Winna moved back to NC as a military spouse and found herself in the non-traditional realm of education. Focusing on learning and practicing a blend of philosophies- Forest, Montessori, and Reggio, she began centering these researched-based practices within her classroom. Additionally, in 2020 Winna completed both her Level 1 Nature-Based Teacher certification through ERAFANS and her certification in Kids Yoga and Mindfulness through Growga.
From Title I Schools to the international teaching realm to curriculum roles and more, Winna not only has a breadth of experience, but also depth. She is absolutely thrilled to take this next step into creating an optimal learning experience that will reflect the evolution of her career while continuing to serve all children and their families.
